WOYWW: Stars

I have been doing 29 Faces this month, and I have been tying in Greek Mythology as much as possible with it.  I drew these girls on stars to represent the Pleiades a couple of weeks ago, but I finally got around to finishing them last night and today - each one takes forever to color since it's colored pencil.  They're finished off with acrylics on birch plywood 5" stars.

So this is what my workdesk looked like when I woke up this morning:


I sealed them with fixative, piled them up and then immediately started working on a canvas for my 50 Canvases video.  I was sitting here typing this and checking for shiny on the canvas (to see if the gel medium was dry yet), and I thought this was a cool view, so this is what's on my workdesk right now:

The two most important things in this video:  Tea and lipbalm.

So yeah!  That's what I'm up to today.  Now off to see what everyone else is doing.

      Thank you! It is really really pretty - it's Daler Rowney Pearlescent in Waterfall Green. It's sort of the perfect combination.

    What a cool view of a very inspiring desk. I'm intrigued with your star girls (I might have to go brush up on my mythology)...and 29 faces. Oh my. I have a lot to learn when it comes to faces, so I really enjoy looking at yours. Color me another fan of lip balm - particuarly at this time of year. Hope the week ahead is a good one for you.       Thank you! ahahah yes, it's a vicious lipbalm/tea/lipbalm/tea/lipbalm/tea cycle.

    Terrific desk shot! I spy a box painted by Sal atop a pink crate! And I just realized you can't even put your knees under there so you must have to sit at a difficult angle. Yikes! (Could that be the pain showing up in a couple of these faces?)

    Great faces! They are all so different and full of personality. (The one with the highest tip in the photo looks like she might have gotten into the cooking sherry.) :D

    Oh my....this is really an artists desk isn't it. I love the stars, and the basis for them, how interesting and multi faceted your 29 will be! Oh and the lip balm...me too. Desk, purse, coat pocket, car, bathrooms........

    I like the idea of linking all the faces to Greek myth, and I shall look at the Pleiades differently in future and see them as girls with blonde hair hiding beneath the twinkling starry surface. Lovely pencil work, and I don't wonder it took so long to colour them at 5" size.
    Good to see a desk and workspace that looks like mine - I always feel a twinge of guilt when I see clear tidy painting areas.

    Oh the stars are sooo beautiful. I love how the night sky cloaks them. Gorgeousness.
